Several pairs of hands sanding and holding rough planks across an outdoor table.

My thesis focuses on the process of building as a community and the ways in which this process can promote sustainable practices, transfer knowledge, and foster a sense of community ownership and pride in the finished product. By engaging community members in the building process, I aimed as a designer to create a sense of shared purpose and empowerment, to promote sustainable practices, and to encourage a deeper understanding of the impact of our choices on the environment.

The design emerged from the fact that it could not be built by a single person, but required multiple hands working simultaneously.
